Nosocomial Infections
Nosocomial infections are infections acquired while in the hospital after 3 days of life after admission to the NICU. Infections can lead to an increase in a premature baby’s length of time needed in the NICU, higher risk for poor brain development, and possible death.
The graph above shows the INFECTION rate at the OLGMC NICU to be consistently lower (BLUE LINE) that the state of Louisiana and national average.
